Karachi Downpour

The first ever dua I learned from my Nani (grandmother) was this one. Ammi was terrifies of thunder. Every time there was lightening and thunder tourism rage would be going around like a top or crouched in a nook of her bed reciting this on the loop, grabbing hold of any child (usually just me) who would even wander past.

As crazy about dust storms, rain and thunder I was, Ammi always would freak out. I wanted to rush out into it and she would grab me and hold me down.

It’s exquisite when a loved one leaves so much of them in you that you inadvertently grow up into them.

The chaos these torrential rains have caused in sindh these past few days, I’ve been reading this dua under my breath all day long, just to see @jam_musings share it on her instagram.

There truly is a heart connection there somewhere but that’s a story for another day.

I know for a fact that if my Nani was around she would be spinning around the house constantly reading this dua and many more for her family sitting all the way in Karachi.

Constantly praying for my whole heart that is Karachi.
