I wrote this somewhere in February then forgot it in the drafts. That in itself is a lesson to be learnt. Never put kindness on the back burner. It is the only thing worthwhile you can teach your child. Help them grow a beautiful heart.
Reading with a baby, especially if you can’t quite hand your child off to anyone, gets more difficult as the offspring grows and develops a love for ripping paper. It’s a constant battle between do I love my child or do I love my books and it can go either way if you’re me. I steered clear from making that choice for a while until this past month when there was truce on the battlefield.
I keep assigning gifts and favours to celebrated days and my lover laughs at me. The fact is, we don’t love each other because we share gifts. The other day I picked up a book and my husband’s eyes widened in surprise. No more than 3 seconds later my baby raced over with the twinkliest eyes ever, throwing herself on the book in my lap. Tears blurring my vision, I put it back in the shelf.
